Call for New Members: Early Career Committee The SCWH Early Career Committee is seeking three new members to serve four-year terms beginning in July 2026. The position is open to members of the Society of Civil War Historians who are beginning their careers in a history-related field, either in or outside of academia. It is open to tenure-track and contingent faculty. It is also open to those in the public history field and independent scholars. The Early Career Committee works to provide programming at the SCWH and SHA meetings that is relevant to those beginning careers in history. Committee members have periodic Zoom meetings and are expected to work on projects throughout the year. Some of the committee’s initiatives include a mentoring program, SHA conference happy hours, and pedagogy and professional development-related panels at the SCWH bi-annual meeting. We also work to help the SCWH identify and address the needs and concerns of historians at this early career stage. The Early Career Committee is committed to being an inclusive committee that encourages diversity and treats all members with dignity and respect. If you are interested in serving with us, please email ECC chair Jonathan Jones ([email protected]) and submit a short paragraph introducing yourself and discussing your interest in joining the committee. The deadline for nominations is June 1, 2026. |
